Ohio State Hosts Principal Secretary of India

WhatsApp Image 2017 10 15 at 2.26.45 AMThe Ohio State University recently hosted Sujata Saunik, principal secretary of the Public Health Department, Finance Department and government of Maharashtra on October 13, 2017. Saunik was working in India independently and through UNICEF and was interested in learning more about Ohio State’s James Cancer Hospital, brain and spine hospital, radiation oncology, the College of Nursing and the department of Microbiology.

Saunik discussed the possibility of joint initiatives and future collaboration in India with Abhay Satoskar, Department of Microbiology; Chandan Sen, Wexner Medical Center department of Regenerative Medicine; Nilendu Gupta, Radiation Oncology; and Tim Raderstorf, chief innovation officer, the College of Nursing. Raj Muthusamy, Department of Internal Medicine; Shantha Balaswamy, associate professor in the College of Social Work; Ish Gulati, Wexner Medical Center department of Neonatology; Milind Deogaonkar, clinical associate professor, Wexner Medical Center, Department of Neurological Surgery; and Ratnesh Bhattacharya, director of the Ohio State India Gateway were also part of the meeting arranged by Destination Medicine Program Manager Padmini Ekbote on October 14, 2017.

On her return to India, Saunik will be collaborating with Ohio State and the India Gateway in various sectors of public health. Priya Kurle, the India Gateway assistant director, and Padmini were crucial in putting together Saunik's visit. They will also play a key role in future engagements with Saunik.
