During his visit to India in June, Satoskar and Priya Kurle, assistant director of the Ohio State India Gateway, met with Sujata Saunik, ‎principal secretary (financial reforms) with the Government of Maharashtra to provide an update on the conference and gain support. The two also plan to meet with a variety of stakeholders including delegates from state and central government as well as corporate representatives.

The conference is being held for healthcare professionals, American and Indian pharmaceutical companies, private and public agencies and government officials of India as well as other South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries in collaboration with American associations such as the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institution of Health to enhance skills and exchange knowledge and best practices. The goal is to address global trends in emerging infectious diseases; discuss and share diagnosis and treatment; prevention methods; and the development of new drugs and vaccines.

The event will be attended by more than 500 participants with over 100 leading experts presenting at the conference. Attendees are expected from SAARC countries and the United States to collaborate and develop cutting edge and practical solutions that benefit the South Asian region and other parts of the world. The health minister of India will be a key guest at the conference.
