Students traveling with restricted diets should actively plan for their experience. It is important to start thinking about how to travel with these restrictions and to start developing strategies for staying healthy.

Travelers with allergies and dietary restrictions related to medical conditions will be asked to disclose this information on their Health and Emergency Treatment Information Form. Students with eating disorders are encouraged to contact the Ohio State Eating Disorder Treatment Team (EDT) to discuss their plans and develop wellness management strategies.

Travelers should also learn the related vocabulary in the language of their host country because it is important for individuals to be able to navigate menus and ingredients lists and communicate their needs or preferences to airline staff, an in-country provider or others providing them with meals.
