Eligibility requirements

  • Successful completion of at least two (2) years of academic work prior to participation in the exchange period for which the student is applying
  • Completion of appropriate and degree level design studios
  • A minimum grade point average of “B” pr a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent as defined by the home institution and agreed to by the host institution;
  • Adequate language preparation
  • Sufficient TOEFL scores for students hosted by OSU
  • Evidence of specific qualities (preparation, motivation, statement of intent, and/or etc.)

Responsibilities of home institution

  • Students will be given an orientation as is customary for all study abroad participants, including full information about the contents of this SEA
  • Student participants will continue to be eligible for all benefits of student aid at their Home Institution.

Responsibilities of host institution

  • The Host Institution will provide admitted students with a formal letter of admission and other documents as may be required for establishing their student status for visa and other purposes.
  • The Host Institution will assign admitted students to the appropriate school, department, or division, and to an appropriate academic advisor.
  • To the extent that their language competence permits, students will be permitted the same freedom of choice in course selection as that enjoyed by regularly enrolled students at the Host Institution
  • All student services and facilities of the Host Institution will be made available to student participants.
  • The host institution will provide a post-arrival orientation to assist students in settling quickly in life in the host environment
  • Upon completion of studies, the Host Institution will send an academic transcript of the student's work to the appropriate office of the Home Institution


  • Students admitted to the host institution will pay the normal academic fees to their home institution
  • The Host institution will waive or provide a means to cover all application, academic, and admissions fees normally required of non-degree students.
  • Round-trip international travel, all room and board costs and all personal costs in the host country are the responsibility of the student
  • Both universities will provide students with information about scholarship/grant opportunities to help cover program cost, if available.
  • Exchange students must purchase their own medical insurance required or proposed by the host institution.

Duration of the agreement

Three (3) years, from September 1, 2011 through December 31, 2014. Any student whose agreed upon program of study extends beyond the Termination Date shall be allowed to complete his or her program of study.
