Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program awards provide opportunities for faculty as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others to teach, research, or conduct a combination of teaching and research. Awards are two- to 12-months in length, and flex options may be available to split up time abroad. Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program

The Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program, a component of the Fulbright Program, sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as short-term experts at academic and other institutions abroad. Fulbright Specialists spend two to six weeks assisting host institutions with curriculum improvement, faculty development, institutional planning and related issues in a wide range of fields including agriculture, economics, education, and public health, among others.

The Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program is administered by World Learning and is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.

Individuals apply to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster. If selected, individuals join the roster for three (3) years. Meanwhile, host institutions submit project proposals to their Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassy. If a host country project proposal is approved, a Fulbright Specialist from the roster is matched to the project. Specialists may also view all open projects and signify their interest in any open project. There is no guarantee to be matched, and individuals on the roster must be matched and complete an exchange to be considered a Fulbright Specialist.
