The English Conversation Program is committed to making real conversations happen in fun and exciting ways. Throughout the semester, we host social events where we can meet other ECP members and invited guests. We want to create safe and supportive spaces where anyone can approach others to talk while doing something fun. We believe it is important to experience different cultural items together so we can notice how we view different aspects of the world.
Each semester, the ECP leadership team helps to decide and implement different trips, workshops and social events with input from the ECP members. Past trips have included:
One of Global Engagement’s signature recurring events is “Social Sips,” where students on Ohio State campus will receive a free cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea if they agree to talk to someone they don’t know.
We set up a Social Sips stand several times a year to encourage spontaneous face-to-face conversations. This event is open to all Ohio State students and is a symbol of our commitment to engaging students of all backgrounds to talk to one another.
