Public Health Perspectives: Finland and Estonia Information Session

Tuesday, October 22, 2019, 4:00PM - 5:00PM

This program provides a basic introduction to global public health and discusses links between public health, educational, social and economic development with special emphasis on Finnish and Estonian societies. While the Gulf of Finland separates Finland and Estonia by just 50 miles, both countries offer students a special opportunity to explore unique global health concepts and practice in this region of the world. Students will also get an overview of the determinants of health and metrics of health status in both countries. Students will critically examine the role of culture, education, economy and environment on public health-related issues in both classroom settings and through extensive travel throughout Finland and Estonia.
