From Focus Groups to Field Experiments: A Decade of Data Collection in Malawi

Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 12:00PM - 1:00PM

Amanda Robinson, Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Science will lead this Brown Bag Voices from the Field Session on 9/13 from 12-1pm in the Enarson Classroom Building Room 160 by sharing research experience in Malawi.

Voices from the Field Brown Bag Speaker Series

Studying the relationship between identity and politics in Malawi forces researchers to rely on a plethora of data collection methodologies, including oral histories, elite interviews, focus group discussions, large-scale citizen surveys, survey experiments, lab-in-the-field experiments, and field experiments. Amanda Robinson will highlight the challenges and opportunities that each of these methodologies has presented in her work, and she will offer suggestions for other field researchers who plan to employ them.

The event is free and open to the public - Register Now. Participants are welcome to bring lunch and eat during the conversation.
