Global Gateways Receive $50,000 Grant for Global Leadership Academy

IMG 1816The Global Gateways received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of State to provide intercultural training and overseas opportunities for undergraduate students at The Ohio State University.

The Global Gateways, in collaboration with the East Asian Studies Center, are currently accepting applications from students to participate in a Global Leadership Academy at Wuhan University in Wuhan, China. Interested students will be tasked to design a project for student leadership development and implement this project during May and June with a cohort of eight to 10 student leaders each from Ohio State and Wuhan University in Wuhan, China.

Students should be enrolled in a Chinese language course. Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one year of language training. The accepted students from Ohio State will meet online during spring semester with the selected students at Wuhan University to design and plan their event. The students will execute the event together for three weeks in May and June 2018 at Wuhan University.

The grant will cover international airfare, transit from the airport to Wuhan, local transportation, Chinese visa, international supplemental health insurance, accommodations, limited cultural activities, meal stipend and project supplies. It does not cover passport or personal expenses.
