The Office of International Affairs is seeking applicants for the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad program. These grants provide support forDevin Grammon, Fulbright-Hays recipient advanced graduate students any field of study who possess strong background in modern foreign languages and area studies. Proposals for full-time dissertation research abroad should focus on topics that develop research knowledge and capabilities in world areas not commonly taught in U.S. institutions. Grants support field research of six to 12 months in duration. Eligibility is restricted to students who possess the requisite language skills for the dissertation project, and who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

A judging panel has selected 40 images for the 2016 International Photography Exhibition. View the exhibition via our Facebook Album and vote for your favorites by “liking” the images. The photo with the most likes in each category by Sunday, November 13 at 12 midnight EST will be the People’s Choice Award winners.

The 2016 International Photography Exhibition will be on display on the first floor of the Ohio Union outside of the Great Hall Meeting Room through the end of December. A special reception to honor all photographers who participated in the competition and to reveal our first, second and third place winners in each category as well as an overall “Best in Show” will be held at the Ohio Union in November.

This year’s competition had over 750 submissions from over 60 different countries in the categories of People, Places and Cultural Exchange. Over 300 photographers from more than 30 different home countries submitted photos. To view past International Photography Exhibition photos, visit oia.osu.edu/photo-contest.

Laura Fernandez, assistant dean for international graduate affairs at the Moritz College of Law, visited Brazil to form new partnerships, reconnect with alumni and promote programs available to international students and faculty.

Fernandez spoke to audiences about opportunities to study or research at Ohio State including receiving a master of laws as a foreign lawyer and participating in the American law and language program or in the visiting scholars program.
