Brazil Gateway representing Moritz College of Law at the EducationUSA LL.M Tour in Brazil

The Brazil Gateway team represented Moritz College of Law and the first EducationUSA LL.M Tour in South America!

Academic Relations and Alumni Community Manager, Jane K. Aparecido, participated in the tour that took place in three major Brazilian cities, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and São Paulo. Approximately 900 people attended the three fairs to learn more about the LL.M (master of laws) degree offered by the Moritz College of Law and other American universities that also had representatives at the fairs.

The LL.M is a nine-month program designed for foreign lawyers who wish to advance their legal education in a stimulating academic environment. Moritz offers the dual advantages of a highly regarded law curriculum and a limited size that allows for individualized attention and support.

EducationUSA is the official source of information about education in the United States. It is affiliated with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State with a significant presence in Brazil (EducationUSA  has at least one office in almost every state of Brazil).

Aparecido, who graduated with an LL.M from Moritz with a concentration in international and comparative law in 2005, was also able to talk about her personal experience to those who attended the fairs.

“I was glad I could share my experience as an LL.M graduate from Moritz  with so many people,” said Aparecido. “I noticed the attendees were not only interested in information about applications and requirements for admission, they wanted to know how it is to live in Columbus, if it is easy to get around campus, how the Brazilian community engages and other things only someone who had the experience can tell.”

Students who have not yet graduated from law school in Brazil, also have opportunities at Moritz. The American Law and Language Program is a summer program of three weeks or one week, depending on the student’s interest.

For more information on both of the programs, visit the website or contact Aparecido.
