Undergraduate Student Grants and Scholarships

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship was established September 1, 1999 to enhance the educational experience of Ohio State students, by providing financial support to participants in Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad programs. Up to 40 scholarships, in the amount of $2,500 each, will be awarded during the 2012-2013 academic year. Students may only receive the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship one time.

Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

• Being an Ohio resident, who has graduated from an Ohio high school
• Having a minimum overall GPA of 2.75
• Having a rank of sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application (as indicated on the advising report)
• Being admitted to an Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad program (do not apply if you are going on a short-term program)

Preference will be given to students that lived and/or graduated high school in central Ohio and that have limited or no international travel experience prior to participating in the study abroad program referenced in this application.

Short-term programs, which vary in length from 10 days to three weeks, are not eligible for this scholarship.

Application Deadlines

• The application deadline for Spring semester 2013 programs is October 1, 2012
• The application deadline for May session 2013, Summer term 2013, Autumn 2013 and Academic Year programs 2013-2014 is February 1, 2013

This competition is held twice a year to account for the various times that students study abroad.

Application Process and Requirements

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship no longer accepts paper applications. All application materials will be submitted via Carmen. The Carmen application window will be open for one month prior to the deadline for the scholarship.

1. Log into Carmen
2. Click on the "Join" link in the top navigation bar (next to Calendar)
3. Read JOIN Instructions and click on "Join" link
4. Select "Wolfe Scholarship SP 13"
5. Fill in Registration information
6. A representative of the Office of International Affairs will approve your registration within 24 - 48 hours
7. Once approved, the scholarship will appear in your courses under the Spring 2013 category
8. Scholarship submission instructions are in the Content section

Scholarship applicants will be able to upload application files into the dropbox. The Carmen application window will be open for one month prior to the deadline for the scholarship.

A complete scholarship application package consists of the following:

1. Completed two-page Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship Application
2. Copy of your advising report

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection and Notification

Scholarship award notifications will be sent electronically one month after the application deadline. Scholarship funds will post to the awardee’s Statement of Account with the Ohio State Office of the Bursar during the first semester of the study abroad program.
