The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship was established September 1, 1999 to enhance the educational experience of Ohio State students, by providing financial support to participants in Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad programs. Up to forty (40) scholarships, in the amount of $2,500 each, will be awarded during the 2011-2012 academic year. Students may only receive the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship one time.

  • The application deadline for Winter 2012 programs, Spring 2012 and Spring Semester 2012 programs is October, 24, 2011 at 4 p.m.

  • The application deadline for Summer 2012, Autumn 2012 and Academic Year programs 2012-2013 is March, 5, 2012. Application materials will be available on Carmen starting February 3.

Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

  • being an Ohio resident, who has graduated from an Ohio high school;

  • having a minimum overall GPA of 2.75;

  • having a rank of sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application (as indicated on the advising report);

  • being admitted to an Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad program (do not apply if you are going on a short-term program).

Preference will be given to students that lived and/or graduated high school in central Ohio and that have limited or no international travel experience prior to participating in the study abroad program referenced in this application.

Short-term programs are not eligible for this scholarship. Short-term programs vary in length from 10 days to three weeks.

  • The application deadline for Winter 2012 programs, Spring 2012 and Spring Semester 2012 programs is October, 24, 2011 at 4 p.m.

  • The application deadline for Summer 2012, Autumn 2012 and Academic Year programs 2012-2013 is March, 5, 2012 application materials will be available on Carmen starting February 3.

Application Process & Requirements

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship no longer accepts paper applications. All application materials will be submitted via Carmen. The Carmen application window will be open for one month prior to the deadline for the scholarship.

  1. Log into Carmen
  2. Click on the "Join" link in the top navigation bar (next to Calendar)
  3. Read JOIN Instructions and click on "Join" link
  4. Select "Wolfe Scholarship SP 12"
  5. Fill in Registration information
  6. The scholarship is listed in Spring 2012
  7. Scholarship submission instructions are in the Content section

Scholarship applicants will be able to upload application files into the dropbox. The Carmen application window will be open for one month prior to the deadline for the scholarship.

A complete scholarship application package consists of

  1. Completed 2 page Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship Application
  2. Copy of your advising report
Incomplete applications will not be considered

Selection and Notification

Scholarship award notifications will be sent electronically one month after the application deadline. Scholarship funds will post to the awardee’s Statement of Account with the Ohio State Office of Fees and Deposits during the first quarter of the study abroad program.
