Ohio State students in EgyptStudying abroad promotes cross-cultural understanding, broadens your worldview, and prepares you for your future. Watch the Study Abroad Overview Presentation, listen to Ohio State alumni talk about their experiences in the Study Abroad Reflections video or read this Study Abroad flyer. Please familiarize yourself with the Ways to Study Abroad and before researching specific programs ask yourself the following questions to help decide what type of program is right for you.

These steps will help introduce you to study abroad at Ohio State.

  1. Attend a Getting Started session and learn how to select a program that is the best fit for you.

    • Research your options by reviewing the program information sheets and language & region guides. Information sheets give you all of the essential information you need about a program.

    • Attend a program information session. These one-hour sessions will give you an in-depth look at a program, and in some cases, the opportunity to meet the program's resident director and program alumni.

  2. If you have attended a Getting Started session and have begun to research your options but are still unsure of which program to select, please meet with a study abroad coordinator during Program Exploration walk-in hours.

  3. If you have specific questions about a particular program, please visit the program coordinator (listed under "Contact Information" on Program Information Sheet) during their office hours.

  4. If you have already made a decision about a study abroad program and are ready to apply, visit our Application Guide to complete an application.

We are committed to making overseas study accessible to every Ohio State student who seeks this experience. Students at all levels of study, undergraduate or graduate, and in any major can study abroad. Programs range from a few weeks up to a year in many countries around the world. You can participate in different programs – International Exchange Programs or programs taught by Ohio State Faculty – or you can study overseas with students from other colleges and universities. You can earn academic credit that can fulfill major or minor requirements, or earn GEC, language or elective credits.

Study abroad is a life changing experience. Living and studying in a foreign country provides an extraordinary opportunity for you to learn about another culture from firsthand experience. You will visit new places, make new friends, learn a new language, and experience life in a new environment. Studying overseas offers you a different perspective on global events and prepares you for a lifetime of learning. At the same time, you can impact the lives of those you meet, and build lifelong ties and friendships. We encourage you to meet this challenge and gain the experience of a lifetime.
