The Office of International Affairs recently awarded the Sonkin-Bergman-Wasserman Families’ Scholarships for International Understanding and Peace to two graduate students, Sally Fleming (Comparative Politics) and Jonathan Hall (Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology). This scholarship provides awards for deserving graduate/professional students at The Ohio State University active in research or study that contributes to the pursuit of international understanding and peace.

This year's recipients of the $1,000 scholarship are:

  • Sally Fleming, a doctoral student in Comparative Politics, for her project, "Conflict, Peace and the Drug Trade in Bolivia." She will be participating in a summer institute on "Peace-building and Conflict Resolution," as well as improving her Spanish language skill in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.  Sally came highly recommended by political science faculty member Sarah M. Brooks.

  • Jonathan Hall, a doctoral student in Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology, for his project  "The Bishnoi People and Biodiversity: Community-based Conservation in Rajasthan, India." He will be going back to Jodhpur India this summer to collect more data. Jonathan came highly recommended by evolution, ecology, and organismal biology faculty member Thomas A. Waite.
