Reviewing your health concerns before you depart and familiarizing yourself with special health and medical needs for the country you are visiting is important. International Affairs encourages all study abroad participants to schedule an International Travel Appointment at the OSU Wilce Student Health Center at least one full quarter before your departure. At this appointment, you will meet with a physician or nurse practitioner for a half hour consultation to discuss health concerns and issues that pertain to your study abroad program location. Students who need to have a physical and/ or a medical history form completed for their study abroad program should schedule an appointment for a physical exam in addition to an International Travel Appointment. To schedule your International Travel appointment, call the OSU Student Health Center at 292-4321. This appointment is provided to enrolled study abroad students for a fee. If you are not registered for classes at OSU at the time of your office visit, an office fee will be charged. You will be charged extra fees for immunizations. Wilce Student Health Center In addition to your travel appointment, you may also want to gather health information about your host country from the Center for Disease Control website at http://www.cdc.gov/travel/ [*]. Sharing InformationInternational Affairs asks you to inform your Study Abroad Coordinator about any allergies, physical, and/or mental health conditions that may impact your study abroad experience. This is critical to do as some conditions can be reactivated or exacerbated by traveling abroad. Information that you share with your Coordinator will be treated confidentially, will not jeopardize your participation in the study abroad program, and will assist International Affairs in helping you receive proper services and care while abroad. |
