Jutta and Peter Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship PDF Print

The Jutta and Peter Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship was established May 1, 1998 with the gift to The Ohio State University from Peter and Jutta Neckermann of Columbus, Ohio to enhance the educational experience of deserving Ohio State students by providing Study Abroad scholarships for study abroad in Germany.  Eight (8) scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded during the Spring 2008 competition. Students may only receive the Neckerman Study Abroad Scholarship one time.

Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program.  Criteria for consideration include:

  • having a minimum overall GPA of 3.00;
  • being admitted to an Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad program in Germany. Short-term programs are not eligible for this scholarship;
  • preference will be also given to students who can demonstrate financial need.

Application Process

The complete Neckermann Study Abroad Scholarship application includes four copies (4) of each of the following items:
  1. a completed Application Form;
  2. a one-page typed statement addressing the relevance of this particular study abroad program to your academic, professional and personal goals and your need for financial support for the study abroad program;
  3. a copy of your advising report (buckeyelink.osu.edu/advising_degree.html).
Your name and the name of the study abroad program for which you have applied for and quarter/s you will be studying abroad should be placed at the top of your personal statement.

Submit four copies (4) of the application materials as one packet addressed to: "The Jutta and Peter Neckermann Scholarship Committee" by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008 to:

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection and Notification

Neckermann Scholarship applications will be reviewed for consideration only if a completed Study Abroad application (including a faculty reference letter, Ohio State advising report and personal statement) has been received by the Office of International Affairs, prior to the Neckermann Scholarship application deadline.

Scholarship award notifications will be sent electronically one month after the application deadline.  Scholarship funds will post to the awardee’s Statement of Account with The Office of the Bursar during the first quarter of the study abroad program.
