Daniel G. Amstutz International Studies Scholarship for Study Abroad - Graduate PDF Print

The Daniel G. Amstutz International Studies Scholarship for Study Abroad was established February 2, 2001 by Mr. Amstutz to provide study abroad scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Fisher College of Business, or College of Humanities, studying and/or researching international topics or trade. Two (2) Amstutz scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded this academic year. Students may only receive the Daniel G. Amstutz International Studies Scholarship for Study Abroad one time.

Preference will be given to graduate applicants.

Criteria for Consideration (for Graduate Students)

  • currently enrolled full time in the graduate program in the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Fisher College of Business, or College of Humanities;
  • demonstrated excellence in scholarship and an appropriate background for the proposed research or study;
  • applicants from College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the Fisher College of Business should demonstrate interest in international trade based on course enrollments and research topics and/or by an international trade business internship;
  • applicants should demonstrate interest through elective courses or through research topics;
  • admitted to an Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad program. Short-term programs are not eligible for this scholarship;
  • preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial need.

Application Deadline: Friday, May 9, 2008 for Summer 2008 and Academic Year 2008-2009 program

Application Process (for Graduate Students)

  1. a completed Application Form;
  2. an official up-to-date Ohio State transcript;
  3. curriculum plan (approved by your advisor);
  4. a one-page Statement of Purpose (1,000 words max). This statement should explain proposed study or research as it relates to the purpose of this scholarship;
  5. sealed letter from your advisor addressing the merits of the proposal;
Your name and the name of the study abroad program for which you have applied for and quarter/s you will be studying abroad should be placed at the top of your personal statement.

Submit four copies (4) of the application materials as one packet addressed to: The Daniel G. Amstutz International Studies Scholarship for Study Abroad by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008 to:

Incomplete Applications will not be considered

Amstutz Scholarship Applications will be reviewed for consideration only if a completed Study Abroad application has been received by the Office of International Affairs, prior to the Amstutz Scholarship application deadline.
