The Office of International Affairs offers professional development workshops for educators on themes and current political, social, economic, and cultural events in world regions related to Ohio State’s five Area Studies Centers.

From 2005 to 2007 the educator workshops were called "Global Hot Spots" as they were devoted to recent ‘hot’ topics in five regions, teachers from Central Ohio attended those workshops and as with all our workshops, they were awarded professional contact hours.
 
An early Fall 2008 professional development workshop will be devoted to recent elections in different counties that made headlines in international news. The objective of this workshop is to provide educators with information as well as the tools to explain, explore, and compare international election processes, as we are getting close to November 2008, in which our own national elections are in the forefront of the daily discussions.
