The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship was established September 1, 1999 to enhance the educational experience of Ohio State students, by providing financial support to participants in Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad programs. Twenty-five (25) scholarships, in the amount of $2,000 each, are awarded each academic year. Students may only receive the Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship one time.

We will be accepting applications beginning September 26, 2008. Please review the scholarship requirements below for more information regarding the application process.

Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time sophomore, junior, and senior rank students attending The Ohio State University in a degree-granting program. Criteria for consideration include:

• being an Ohio resident, who has graduated from an Ohio high school;

• having a minimum overall GPA of 2.75;

• being admitted to an Ohio State approved quarter/summer-long study abroad program. 

Preference will be given to students that lived and/or graduated high school in central Ohio and that have limited or no international travel experience prior to participating in the study abroad program referenced in this application.

Short-term programs are not eligible for this scholarship.

Friday, October 24, 2008 for Winter and/or Spring 2009

Friday, March 13, 2009 for Summer 2009 or Academic Year 2009-2010

Application Process & Requirements

The Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship no longer accepts paper applications. All application materials will be submitted via Carmen.

1. Log into Carmen
   
2. Click on the "Join" link in the top navigation bar (next to Calendar)
   
3. Read JOIN Instructions and click on "Join" link
   
4. Select "Wolfe Scholarship AU 08"
5. Fill in Registration information
6. The scholarship is listed in Special --> Study Abroad
   
7. Scholarship submission instructions are in the Content section

Scholarship applicants will be able to upload application files into the dropbox. The Carmen application window will be open for one month prior to the deadline for the scholarship which is Friday, October 24, 2008 for Winter and/or Spring 2009 study abroad programs.

A complete scholarship application package consists of

1. Completed Wolfe Study Abroad Scholarship Application;
2. One page, typed statement addressing the relevance of the particular study abroad program to your academic, professional and personal goals and your need for financial support for the study abroad program. Your name and the name of the study abroad program you have applied for and quarter/s you will be studying abroad should be placed at the top of your statement; 
   
3. Copy of your advising report

Incomplete applications will not be considered

Selection and Notification

Scholarship award notifications will be sent electronically one month after the application deadline. Scholarship funds will post to the awardee’s Statement of Account with the Ohio State Office of Fees and Deposits during the first quarter of the study abroad program.
