You can obtain academic credit for a myriad of different courses through study abroad. Most of our OSU sponsored program information sheets list each course you will take abroad and their credit. Course offerings for other programs will vary. Study Abroad Academic Credit/Academic AdvisingAll coursework you take overseas will be for graded, OSU credit. Under no circumstances will you be allowed to receive Incomplete, Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grades, or "K" transfer credit. All credits earned are transferable to OSU pending approval of individual academic departments. When possible, obtain from your Study Abroad Coordinator or the host institution's web site, course descriptions and/or syllabi for the classes you wish to take overseas. Before leaving for your study abroad program, you will want to meet with your academic adviser to inform her/him of your study abroad plans and to discuss courses you plan to take upon return. This is extremely important if you are participating in an OSU study abroad program for which the credits are not predetermined (i.e. International Exchange programs and Co-Sponsored programs). You will also want to take your academic adviser's phone number, e-mail and regular mailing address with you overseas. This information will become very useful when it is time for you to register for classes you will be taking at OSU the quarter following your return. |
