General Visa InformationFor Entry to CanadaYou can obtain an entry visa to Canada either by mail or by visiting the Canadian Consulate. Please note that students from certain countries will be required to wait for 10-15 business days for the visa issuance; therefore, we suggest that you apply through the mail. Leave 30 days for processing. The closest Canadian Consulates to Columbus are in Detroit, Michigan and Buffalo, New York. If you are not certain that you need to obtain a visa to enter Canada, you should consult the web addresses found below for further information.
Make sure to have your signed 1-20 or DS-2019, 1-94, passport, and the proper amount of money when you visit the Canadian Consulate. It is best to arrive early. If you wish to obtain a U.S. visa while in Canada, please contact the consulate to set up an appointment. You may do this in one of two ways: via the Internet or by phone. If the 900 telephone service is not available from your area, please contact (888) 840-0032 from Canada and the U.S. You will be asked to provide your credit card number. Be sure to have the exact amount of money in U.S. dollars for your application (Visit U.S. consulate website for specific instructions). Please note that electronic devices, such as cell phones, are not allowed in the U.S. Consulate.
