The Office of International Affairs is pleased to make available competitive partial tuition grants each quarter (except summer) to international students at The Ohio State University. If you would like a grant for summer quarter, you must apply by the spring quarter deadline. These grants are intended to help those international students who have demonstrated financial need to complete their degrees. Grants will only be given to students who have been at Ohio State for at least one academic year, or have a severe financial need. Grants will be deposited directly into the students' account at The Office of the Bursar. Korean students will automatically be considered for a specially designated fund, the Krumm Fund Scholarship.

An Eligible student must:

  1. Be a non-immigrant foreign student (F-1 or J-1 status);

  2. Be currently enrolled in a degree program;

  3. Have never received an International Affairs grant before; AND

  4. Fulfill ONE of these conditions:

    • Have completed at least one academic year at OSU (with preference given to students graduating within two quarters), has financial need, and has a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 (for undergraduates) or 3.0 (for graduates);

    • Have demonstrated unforeseen and extreme financial need beyond the student’s control, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (for undergraduates) or 3.0 (for graduates).

In order to apply for an International Affairs grant, submit the following by the appropriate date noted below:

  1. Attached International Affairs Grant Application and budget worksheet;

  2. Letter of support from your academic adviser confirming personal merit and progress toward completion of degree;

  3. Letter explaining in specific terms why this grant is needed and how you intend to use it, as well as what you have done and are doing to meet your financial needs.

* Please note that you will not be interviewed for an International Student Grant. Therefore, take full advantage of this opportunity to explain your financial situation in writing. However, limit your statement to a maximum of one page.

NOTE: Applicants will be notified approximately two weeks from the application deadline regarding the grant committee's decision. All decisions are final.
