![]() The Office of International Affairs administers over 100 study abroad programs in more than 40 different countries. These programs give students an opportunity to become involved in cross-cultural interaction and enjoy a rewarding educational experience in fields from language studies to agriculture, engineering to business, and many more. A variety of options is available to support and augment students' progress in their curriculum. There are short-term study programs in conjunction with an academic course to longer experiences such as quarter- to year-long stays in an international environment. Study Abroad coordinators and faculty resident directors help students learn about what programs are available in Asia, Australia, the Middle East, South America, Europe, and Africa; how to earn college credit; how to affordably finance their study abroad program; and what to expect when they arrive in another country and when they return home to Ohio State. We invite you to explore your opportunities to study abroad through The Ohio State University through this PowerPoint Presentation and our webpages.
Working With CoordinatorsInternational Affairs Study Abroad Coordinators are responsible for three primary areas: daily walk-in advising, study abroad program management, and campus outreach. A Coordinator is available to students on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday, 1 - 4 p.m. to talk briefly with students. All Coordinators can provide general information on any program offered by The Office of International Affairs. Each Coordinator manages a designated set of programs. In addition to working with the host institution(s) and academic departments at OSU, International Affairs Coordinators advise students on their study abroad program, recruit, participate in acceptance decisions, and provide pre-departure orientation for students. Coordinators continue to work with students and host country Coordinators throughout the duration of a program. Upon return to the U.S., Coordinators assist student in processing their study abroad grades/credits, evaluate the program, and organize a reunion for program participants. International Affairs Study Abroad Coordinators are available to visit classrooms, campus events, and residence halls to give study abroad presentations. Coordinators may show a video on study abroad at OSU, bring former study abroad participants, and written materials highlighting programs available through International Affairs. If you would like to request a presentation for your residence hall class, or event, please email abroad@oia.osu.edu. |
